An oval-shaped, silver-plated lidded dish featuring an inset clear glass liner. The metal frame and domed lid are decorated with an intricate, dense repousse pattern of stylized foliate and bamboo-like motifs against a textured ground. The dish is flanked by two small, scalloped flange handles. One handle features a series of four small, struck marks that are worn and not clearly legible. The domed lid is fitted with a circular, dark-coloured finial. The glass liner features a moulded radial or starburst pattern on its underside. The overall design is characteristic of late 19th or early 20th-century Anglo-Indian decorative arts.
Weight of metal components: 54.20 grams.
Condition report:
The metal components exhibit a moderate amount of surface tarnish and patina consistent with age. The repousse decoration remains well-defined. The glass liner is in good condition with no visible chips or cracks. There are no significant dents or repairs apparent to the metalwork.
