Lot 881: UK 1889 Double Florin Queen Victoria Jubilee Head
A United Kingdom Double Florin (Four Shillings) dated 1889. Struck in sterling silver, the obverse features the Jubilee Head portrait of Queen Victoria. The reverse displays four crowned shields of the United Kingdom arranged in a cruciform pattern with scepters in the angles. The legends read VICTORIA DEI GRATIA on the obverse and 1889 REG: FID: DEF: BRITT: on the reverse. This denomination was a short-lived issue, produced by the Royal Mint only between 1887 and 1890.
Condition report:
Circulated. Moderate wear is visible on the high points of the Queen\'s portrait and the central details of the shields. The coin exhibits a natural dark toning and patina. No significant edge damage or deep scratches are observed.
