A group of five porcelain cricket cages, designed in the Japanese blue and white tradition. The set includes four hexagonal vessels and one square-sided vessel, all featuring intricate reticulated or pierced lattice-work panels to the sides. Each cage is topped with a large circular aperture. The white porcelain bodies are decorated with hand-painted cobalt blue designs, including scrolling foliate motifs, floral sprays, and geometric diaper patterns along the rims and base. The variations in the intensity of the blue pigment indicate hand-painted application. No factory marks or backstamps are visible on the pieces. Several items bear orange adhesive labels and a small white numerical sticker.
Condition report:
The set appears to be in good overall condition. The delicate pierced lattice-work panels appear largely intact across all five pieces. No significant chips, cracks, or restorations are visible. Some surface wear consistent with handling is present, along with adhesive price labels and numerical stickers.
