Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This lot consists of a relief-moulded commemorative medallion and an embroidered cloth insert, produced for the Preston Guild Merchant celebrations of 1882. The medallion is fashioned from white metal and features five segmented circular panels. The upper sections include the words PRESTON and GUILD flanking a central heraldic shield party per pale. The lower-left panel displays the Preston City coat of arms, featuring the Paschal Lamb and the letters P.P. representing Princeps Pacis. The lower-right panel is inscribed with the text EDMUND BIRLEY ESQ. GUILD MAYOR 1882. The second component is a circular embroidered insert on a grey felt backing, depicting the Red Rose of Lancaster with green leaves and stem. Both items are housed within a simple circular yellow-rimmed mount.

Condition report:

The white metal medallion exhibits surface tarnish and oxidation consistent with its age. A modern orange adhesive lot sticker numbered 32 is present on the lower-left face of the medallion. The embroidered rose insert remains in good condition with vibrant colours. The yellow-rimmed mount shows minor surface wear and light marks.
