A group of assorted British uniform insignia and buttons dating from the mid-20th century. The collection features a Queen Elizabeth II pattern Royal Army Service Corps cap badge comprising a crowned star with a central garter inscribed Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense around the ER II cipher, with a lower scroll for the Royal Army Service Corps. This badge is mounted on a circular white iridescent disc. Also included is a brass Warrant Officer Class 1 rank badge depicting the Royal Coat of Arms. Other insignia include an eight-pointed white-metal star badge and a small crowned badge with a central garter and cipher. The assortment of buttons includes examples from the Scots Guards featuring the Order of the Thistle star, the Lincolnshire Regiment with a central Sphinx and surrounding inscription, and a Lancashire County button. Additionally, the lot contains General Service buttons with the Royal Arms and a Royal Artillery button bearing the motto Ubique. Construction materials include brass, white metal, anodised aluminium, and darkened metal.
Condition report:
The items are in mixed condition. Several anodised aluminium buttons remain bright, while the brass and white-metal badges and buttons exhibit varying degrees of surface wear, tarnish, and heavy patina consistent with age and use. The RASC badge and its mount appear to be in good overall condition.
