This lot comprises two Chinese carved hardstone plaques, each presented on an individual custom-fitted dark hardwood stand. The larger plaque is of circular form, crafted from a pale celadon-toned hardstone. It features intricate reticulated carving with a central motif depicting a bird, possibly a phoenix, surrounded by a border of scrolling foliage and floral patterns. The smaller plaque is a circular medallion of pale green hardstone, featuring a central stylised shou character representing longevity, enclosed within a border of openwork ruyi-shaped motifs. Both plaques are mounted on dark hardwood stands with carved scrolling supports. The wooden bases bear orange adhesive labels with the handwritten number 790, and the smaller stand has an additional white label marked 15. No maker’s marks or reign marks are visible on the hardstone or the wood.
Condition report:
Both pieces appear to be in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of restoration to the hardstone. The wooden stands show minor surface dust and light wear consistent with age.
