A large vintage woven bedspread or decorative throw, characteristic of the psychedelic and Bohemian design trends of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The piece is constructed from a heavyweight jacquard-woven fabric, likely a cotton or cotton-blend, featuring a complex multi-coloured weave that creates a reversible-style pattern. The textile is decorated with a bold, maximalist pattern in a vibrant palette of hot pink, bright orange, and deep burgundy. The design incorporates large-scale stylised foliate scrolls, damask-inspired motifs, and floral elements, framed by a wide border with a geometric chequerboard pattern. One edge is finished with a substantial, multi-tiered fringe of thick yarn tassels in alternating shades of red and orange. A small, rectangular yellow sticker is present on the lower section of the fabric containing the characters L69, likely a contemporary auction lot number or inventory code. No woven maker’s labels or laundry tags are visible.
Condition report:
The item appears to be in good vintage condition. The colours remain exceptionally bright and saturated with no obvious signs of fading. There are no immediately apparent tears, holes, or significant stains to the woven fabric. The heavy tasselled fringe is largely intact, showing only minor tangling and surface wear consistent with age and previous use.
