A pair of large-scale pricket candlesticks designed to accommodate pillar candles. The candlesticks feature turned baluster-form stems and circular tiered bases. The stems are constructed in multiple sections and incorporate bands of black-finished fluted decoration. The primary surfaces of the stems and bases exhibit a polished, marbled faux-tortoiseshell or burr-wood effect finish in shades of amber and dark brown. The large circular drip pans and central candle spikes are made of metal, likely iron or steel, with the pans featuring a raised, fluted rim. No maker’s marks are visible on the upper surfaces.
Condition report:
Both candlesticks show signs of age and use. The metal drip pans and central prickets exhibit significant surface oxidation and rust. There is general light wear and some minor scuffing to the finished surfaces of the stems and bases.
