Lot 675: A Pair of Contemporary Chinoiserie Style Blue and White Ceramic Table Lamps
A pair of contemporary ceramic table lamps designed in the Chinese taste. The lamps feature bulbous ceramic bases of ginger jar form, decorated with underglaze blue floral sprays and scrolling foliate borders against a white ground. Each base is fitted with a brass-toned metal collar and lamp holder. The lamps are paired with matching navy blue pleated fabric shades of tapered cylindrical form. Each lamp is equipped with white flexible cabling and a standard UK three-pin plug. These items are sold as decorative objects only and have not been PAT tested; rewiring by a qualified professional is recommended before use. No maker’s marks are visible on the ceramic bases or metal fittings. Small orange labels are adhered to the shades.
Condition report:
The lamps appear to be in good overall condition. One ceramic base displays yellowish surface staining or minor discolouration to the glaze near the neck area. The shades show minor signs of handling and dust.
