Lot 636: Antique Crown 1923 Regulation Cast Iron Steelyard Scale
An antique Crown brand steelyard or weighbeam scale manufactured from forged and cast iron. This industrial-grade weighing instrument features a long, rectangular-section beam with numerical graduations and a large, spherical cast-iron sliding poise. The scale is equipped with two heavy-duty forged iron hooks, one for suspension and one for supporting the load. The beam terminates in a circular cast-iron fixed counterweight.
The circular weight features raised cast lettering reading 1923 REGULATION at the top, TO WEIGH 300 LB in the centre, and CROWN at the bottom. The graduated beam shows visible numerical markings, including 10 and 20 near the pivot point. Such scales were commonly utilised in agricultural and industrial settings for weighing heavy commodities such as cotton, tobacco, or meat.

The item is in a well-used, as-found condition exhibiting significant surface oxidation, rust, and pitting across all iron components.
