Lot 531: An Assortment of Terracotta and Earthenware Garden Pots and Planters
A varied collection of terracotta and earthenware garden pots and associated horticultural items. The assortment includes traditional unglazed terracotta conical garden pots in graduated sizes and a large shallow terracotta saucer. One planter is made from pale buff-coloured earthenware and features a moulded horizontal ribbed or basket-weave textured design. Also included are several small ceramic pots finished in a pale blue glaze. These items represent common styles of British and European horticultural earthenware. No maker’s marks are visible on the bodies. The items bear yellow inventory stickers with the handwritten characters S31.
Condition report:
The items are in a used and weathered condition consistent with outdoor horticultural use. There is visible mineral efflorescence, areas of moss and algae growth, and minor chipping and surface wear to the rims and bases.
