Lot 511: Philips Portable Reel-to-Reel Tape Recorder
A mid-20th-century portable reel-to-reel tape recorder manufactured by Philips in the Netherlands. The unit features a cream-coloured moulded plastic housing with a detachable clear plastic dust cover. The central assembly includes a silver-tone and red Philips shield badge and a gold-toned label inscribed MADE IN HOLLAND. Control interface consists of four ivory-coloured push-button transport switches and two grey rotary knobs positioned on either side of the recording head. A three-digit mechanical tape counter is located on the front panel below the head cover. The recorder is presented with two clear plastic reels featuring red Philips labels and magnetic tape.
Condition report:
The item is in used, uncleaned condition. Visible surface dust and age-related yellowing are present on the plastic casing. The internal mechanism and electrical components are untested. The magnetic tape shows some signs of twisting near the central guide.
