Lot 502A: A Victorian Style Wrought Iron Pedestrian Garden Gate
This architectural salvage item is a decorative wrought iron gate featuring traditional Victorian-style ornamentation. The construction consists of a central vertical bar embellished with symmetrical pairs of C-scrolls and S-scrolls. To one side, horizontal rails are set within a frame that terminates in further decorative scrollwork and a vertical mounting bar. The ironwork is joined through a combination of traditional riveting and welding techniques. The entire piece retains a weathered black painted finish.
Condition report:
The item is in salvaged, original condition with significant surface oxidation and rust visible through the paint, particularly at the joints and scroll terminals. The black paint is heavily worn and flaking throughout. Structurally, the gate appears sound and complete, though it requires professional cleaning and refinishing.
