Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A mid-20th century low-back Windsor armchair, of a design frequently referred to as a smoker’s bow or captain’s chair. The construction features a solid elm seat with a prominent grain pattern and a beech wood frame. The spindle-back design comprises five vertical spindles supported by a steam-bent curved top rail. The turned legs are socketed into the seat and stabilized by a central H-stretcher. The entire piece is finished in a dark stain. There are two identification stickers present: a white label marked 2 and an orange label marked 479. The design and materials are attributed to the Windsor range produced by Ercol of High Wycombe.

Condition report:

The armchair is in good vintage condition. There is minor surface wear and some scuffing to the dark stained finish on the arms and legs consistent with age and use. The joints are firm and the structure is stable.
