Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This Jacobean Revival bergere armchair is constructed from dark-stained oak. The frame is designed with a double-caned back and double-caned side panels. It features barley-twist front legs and arm supports, which are joined by a matching barley-twist H-stretcher. The front seat rail and the upper surfaces of the arms are decorated with incised diamond-patterned carving. The chair is fitted with a loose squab seat cushion upholstered in a cream-ground floral tapestry fabric depicting roses and foliate motifs. No maker’s marks are visible on the frame. A small white inventory sticker with the number 7 is present on the lower front right frame.

Condition report:

The chair is in good overall condition. There is light surface wear, minor scuffs, and thinning to the dark finish on the arms and feet, which is consistent with age and domestic use. The canework is well-preserved, remaining taut with no obvious breaks, losses, or sagging. The upholstery appears to be in good order.
