This collection of architectural salvage comprises several pieces of domestic door hardware. The lot features two large, ornate push or pull handles cast from a heavy metal, possibly a zinc-based alloy, decorated in the Rococo Revival style with asymmetrical scrollwork and foliate acanthus leaf motifs. These pieces resemble Italian Baroque designs found in the late 19th century. Also included is a polished brass lever-on-backplate door handle set, featuring a bulbous lever and an integrated thumb-turn privacy mechanism on a rectangular backplate with rounded corners. The group further contains various secondary brass components, including elements of a latch or hinge mechanism. No manufacturer marks are visible on the components.
Condition report:
The items are offered in as-found condition as architectural salvage. The polished brass handle shows light surface scratching and minor tarnish consistent with domestic use. The two ornate cast pulls exhibit significant white oxidation and surface corrosion across the textured areas, with substantial loss to the original yellow-metal or gilded finish. The completeness of any internal mechanisms, spindles, or fixings has not been verified.
