An assortment of decorative elements in the Continental Rococo style, including a twin-branch wall sconce and associated foliate carvings. The sconce features a backplate decorated with grape clusters, vine leaves, and foliate scrolls, surmounted by a ribbon-and-bow motif. It is fitted with two scrolling foliate arms terminating in fluted drip pans and cream-coloured faux-candle sleeves. The associated components feature matching foliate and scroll motifs. The items are constructed from gilt-composition, comprising gesso or plaster over a core. The surfaces are finished in gold gilding. There are no maker’s marks visible. Multiple inventory stickers are present, including white labels marked with 2 and an orange label marked 432. The sconce is currently electrified with two light points.
Condition report:
The items show visible surface wear consistent with age, including rubbing and thinning of the gilt finish, exposing the underlying composition material. There are minor chips and losses to the composition, particularly on the edges of the foliage. The electrical wiring appears to be of some age; the item is sold as a decorative object and must be professionally inspected and rewired by a qualified electrician before use.
