An assortment of vintage books featuring various titles and binding styles. The collection includes a matching set of three volumes by Mark Twain, comprising The Prince and the Pauper, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. These are bound in uniform textured orange cloth with gilt-stamped titles on the front boards. Also present is a blue clothbound volume titled South, likely Ernest Shackleton’s account of his Antarctic expedition, featuring a black line-art illustration of a masted sailing vessel on the upper board. Leaning against the group is a softcover edition of A Dictionary of Latin Tags and Phrases by Eugene Ehrlich, showing the publisher Hale on the spine. The collection further includes a green clothbound book with a decorative gilt-stamped central emblem and other partially visible titles such as The Children. The books are presented in a mix of publisher’s cloth and original paper wrappers.
Condition report:
The books exhibit signs of age-related shelf wear throughout. Visible defects include bumped corners, minor scuffing to the cloth covers, and light fading to the spines. Several volumes show minor fraying at the head and tail of the spines. The softcover volume shows edge wear and light creasing to the covers. The collection generally appears to be in fair to good condition for its age; however, internal pages and hinges have not been individually inspected.
