Lot 385: A Victorian Style Mahogany Four-Tier Wall-Mounted Etagere with Two Drawers
A Victorian style mahogany wall-mounted etagere, also known as a whatnot, featuring four fixed tiers. The uppermost shelf is finished with a decorative shaped and pierced gallery. The side supports are detailed with open-work pierced circular and scroll designs. The base section of the unit contains two short drawers, each fitted with circular brass backplates and ring-pull handles. Two metal brackets are attached to the rear of the top uprights for securing the piece to a wall. This is a single, non-sectional unit. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the exterior of the piece.
Condition report:
The piece is in good overall condition with signs of wear consistent with age and use. There are minor surface scratches and light abrasions visible, primarily to the edges and shelf surfaces. The mahogany finish remains generally well-preserved. The brass hardware is intact and appears original.
