This lot consists of an ornate vintage hand mirror and two bamboo back scratchers. The handheld vanity mirror is constructed from cast metal with a gilt finish. It features an elaborate openwork handle and frame decorated with scrolled foliate and classical motifs. The mirror head is of a flared, rectangular form with a decorative beaded border surrounding the glass. The two bamboo back scratchers vary in design; one has a flat construction with simple pyrography scorched line decoration, while the other features a rounded cylindrical shaft. Both terminate in traditional stylized hand-shaped scratchers. No manufacturer marks were identified on any of the pieces. The style of the mirror is consistent with vanity wares from the early to mid-20th century.
Condition report:
The metalwork of the mirror shows a darkened, aged patina with areas of tarnish and surface oxidation. The mirror glass exhibits surface foxing and clouding consistent with age. Both bamboo items appear to be in good used condition with minor surface wear. Adhesive auction stickers are present on all items.
