Buyer's Premium:

A 19th-century hand-coloured steel engraving titled Cartmel Church, Lancashire. This topographical work, after a drawing by George Pickering (c.1794–1857) and engraved by William Watkins, depicts the historic priory church from across a body of water, featuring figures and horses in the foreground. The plate is inscribed Drawn by G. Pickering. at the lower right and Engraved by W. Watkins. at the lower left, with the title centred below. The engraving likely originates from a contemporary topographical publication such as Lancashire Illustrated, published circa 1831. The impression exhibits sharp, precise lines characteristic of steel engraving. It is presented in a modern, multi-layered cream mount with a gilt border, housed within a simple dark wood frame.

Condition report:

The paper exhibits some light toning and minor discolouration towards the edges of the mount, consistent with age. The frame shows minor surface wear and scuffs. Plate marks are not visible as they are obscured by the mount.
