Lot 345: After Arthur Pan (Hungarian/British, 1894-1983) 'Sir Winston Churchill'
This lithographic print, published by Frost & Reed Ltd. in 1944, is after an original portrait painting by the artist Arthur Pan. The subject, Sir Winston Churchill, is depicted in a formal three-quarter length portrait, seated in a red leather studded armchair wearing a dinner jacket and holding a cigar in his left hand. Condition report:
The paper support shows significant age-related toning and widespread foxing across the margins. The wooden frame exhibits minor surface scuffs and wear consistent with age. A lot sticker is present on the lower-left corner of the glass. The print is currently oriented upside down within the frame and requires professional re-mounting.
