Lot 341: A Large Mid-20th Century Aluminium Swing-Handle Kettle
A large vintage picnic or domestic kettle of spun and press-formed aluminium construction. The vessel features a wide, stable base and a curved spout. The aluminium swing handle is secured to the body with rivets and features a turned grip fashioned from wood or a dark composite material. The lid is topped with a central finial. A circular maker’s mark is stamped onto the shoulder of the body, featuring a crown motif at the top of a circular border, a style consistent with mid-century British metalware manufacturers. The interior remains unexamined.
Condition report:
The kettle is in an unrestored, used state. It displays a heavy matt patina with significant surface oxidation, pitting, and multiple scuffs and scratches throughout. There are several minor dents to the main body. The handle and lid remain functional. Two paper auction lot stickers are currently adhered to the exterior.
