Lot 277: Raymond Alfred Gilronan (b. 1950) - Scafell, Lake District Landscape Watercolor
A landscape watercolor painting with highlights of bodycolour by Raymond Alfred Gilronan (born 1950). The work depicts Scafell in the English Lake District, presented in a traditional atmospheric style with misty mountainous peaks and a distant waterfall. The foreground features several sheep grazing on a rocky outcrop beside a small stream. The composition is flanked by a slender tree to the left and a larger green tree to the right. Signed R. Gilronnan in the lower right corner. The painting is set within an off-white textured mount that includes a printed title label reading Scafell by R. Gilronnan. It is housed in a dark wood frame with a gilt inner bead.
Condition report:
The watercolor is in good condition, showing no signs of foxing, staining, or notable fading. The paper appears flat and the colours remain well-saturated. The mount and frame exhibit minor surface wear and minor scuffing to the edges. Auction lot stickers are attached to the glass and the mount surface. Not examined out of the frame.
