This vintage coat is constructed from mahogany-brown fur. The pelts are joined using a let-out technique, which creates the characteristic narrow vertical strips visible throughout the body and sleeves. The garment features a wide, rounded shawl collar and long sleeves. The interior is fully lined with a dark satin fabric. An embroidered maker’s label is present at the internal neckline with gold-tone script, although the text is not clearly legible. The item is suspended from a hanger with a floral-patterned protector and features yellow auction lot tag 267 and white tag 270.
Condition report:
The fur appears to be in good condition with a visible lustre and consistent colour throughout. No significant shedding, bald spots, or tears are apparent from the exterior. The lining appears intact. As with all vintage fur garments, the underlying pelts should be inspected for suppleness and the edges of the cuffs and collar for minor wear.
