This lot comprises two decorative glassware items. The first is a trumpet-shaped vase or epergne flute featuring deep vertical faceted cutting and a scalloped, serrated rim. The clear crystal flute is mounted into an ornate pedestal base of embossed and chased sterling silver. The base decoration includes rococo-style C-scrolls, shells, and foliate motifs. The silver base bears British hallmarks for London, including the leopard’s head, lion passant, and a date letter appearing to be a script m. The maker’s mark MW is present in a separate rectangular punch, possibly for the silversmith Matthew West.
The second item is a decorative inkwell or scent bottle crafted from translucent vibrant green glass in a squared, bulbous form. It features a hinged metal topper, possibly bronze or patinated white metal, surmounted by a figural finial depicting a dog or fox standing upon a textured, rock-work style base. Both items bear orange lot stickers numbered 248.
Condition report:
Both items appear to be in good antique condition. The crystal vase is free of visible chips or cracks to the rim. The silver base exhibits a natural aged patina and minor surface wear consistent with age. The green glass inkwell shows no significant damage; the metal topper functions correctly and displays a dark, aged patina.
