This antique armchair is designed in the Victorian spoon-back style, featuring a curved backrest and a dark-stained wood frame. The frame includes scrolling, foliate-carved arm terminals and is raised on short cabriole front legs that terminate in scroll feet. The seat and backrest are upholstered in a pink and cream patterned fabric with a repeating floral motif and button-tufting. The upholstery is finished with a decorative braid trim. There are no visible maker marks or stamps on the piece.
Condition report:
The chair is in poor to fair condition and necessitates significant restoration. The fabric is heavily worn and stained, with multiple tears present, most notably a large hole on the upper right armrest. The decorative braid trim has become detached in various places, particularly along the front rail. The wood frame shows surface scuffs and wear commensurate with age.
