Lot 2: A resin figurine of a shepherd with sheep and collie, attributed to Border Fine Arts
This resin sculptural group is attributed to Border Fine Arts and appears to be the model Gathering in the Strays, designed by the artist Ray Ayres. The scene depicts a shepherd dressed in traditional rural attire, including a flat cap and a brown jacket, holding a lamb and a shepherd’s crook. He is surrounded by a flock of sheep and lambs, likely of the Swaledale breed, on a textured, stony base. A black and white border collie is positioned atop a section of dry-stone wall looking down at the flock. The figurine is mounted on a shaped, dark-polished wooden plinth. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible, although two contemporary adhesive labels with the digits 7 and 2 are present on the base.
