Lot 171: A Collection of Anglo-Indian and Tasmanian Carved Wooden Trays and Treen
A collection of various hand-carved wooden decorative items and treen. The assembly includes a large rectangular tray with foliate and floral carved borders and twin integral handles. Also present is a circular bowl featuring a carved geometric pattern to the outer rim and a smaller turned wooden bowl. This small bowl bears multiple handwritten and stamped labels to the base identifying various Tasmanian timbers including Sassafras, Huon Pine, Blackwood, and Radiata Pine, alongside the mark TAS TIMBERS Made in Tasmania. The collection further includes a shaped tray with openwork carved borders and foliate mother-of-pearl or bone inlay, and a pair of cast metal nutcrackers. The trays exhibit hand-carved details in a style resembling Anglo-Indian or Kashmiri workmanship.
Condition report:
Generally good condition with evidence of surface wear and scratches consistent with use. A visible split is noted to the rim of the larger circular bowl. Multiple adhesive price or lot stickers are present across the items.
