Lot 134: A Pair of Victorian Copper Watering Cans

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A pair of antique Victorian copper watering cans of graduated sizes. The larger can is of traditional form, featuring a side-mounted brass handle with a decorative heart-shaped backplate and a secondary arched top handle. The smaller can is of cylindrical form with a short spout and a single arched handle. Both are constructed from sheet copper with visible riveted seams and rolled rims. These items are characteristic of British garden metalware from the late 19th or early 20th century. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on either piece. Both cans bear yellow auction lot stickers numbered 134.

Condition report:

Both vessels display an aged, dark patina with noticeable green verdigris oxidation concentrated around the joints and rivets. There are surface scratches and minor indentations consistent with age and utilitarian garden use. Both cans appear to be missing their original screw-on roses.
