Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises two items of traditional polished brassware, featuring a chestnut roaster and a kitchen skimmer. The chestnut roaster is designed with a circular head and a hinged lid, which is decorated with an embossed repoussé scene depicting figures in a tavern or rural setting. The handle is cast with a series of decorative openwork circular motifs and concludes with a shaped terminal featuring a hole for hanging. The skimmer consists of a shallow circular bowl with multiple hand-pierced perforations arranged in a pattern, riveted to a long, flat, tapering handle with a rounded end and a hanging hole. Both pieces exhibit riveted construction and a bright polished finish, characteristic of Victorian or Edwardian period domestic metalware.

Condition report:

Both items are in good structural condition, displaying a bright polished finish. There is minor surface wear and light scratching consistent with age and typical of decorative hearth-side implements. Adhesive inventory labels are present on the handles of both items.
