A collection of silver-plated tableware and serving pieces, primarily in the Victorian revival style. The group includes a three-piece tea service comprising a teapot, a hot water jug, and a cream or sugar bowl, all presented on a matching circular tray. These vessels feature ornate repousse and chased floral and foliate decoration, resting on shell-motif feet with decorative finials. The circular tray is finished with a wide border of grapes and vine leaves and an engraved centre featuring scrolling foliage. Also included is a rectangular silver-plated tray with a scalloped shell and scroll border, which holds three rectangular pressed-glass relish inserts with starburst patterns and three two-tined appetizer forks. The collection further contains a large oval silver-plated tray with a pierced gallery and a matching grape-vine decorative border. No maker’s marks or hallmarks were observed on the pieces.
Condition report:
The items exhibit general age-related tarnish and minor surface wear. The trays show light surface scratching. Two of the appetizer forks display heavy pitting and corrosion, while the third appears in better condition. There is some minor wear to the plated surfaces consistent with age and use.
