Lot 86: A Pair of Silver-Plated Rectangular Lidded Serving Dishes
A pair of silver-plated rectangular lidded serving dishes of graduated size. The larger dish features a lid with a central cast handle decorated with ornate scrolling foliate and shell motifs. The base is fitted with two corresponding side handles and sits on a raised base with a decorative pierced gallery. The smaller dish is of similar rectangular form with rounded corners, featuring twin side handles and a central decorative finial to the lid. Based on the style and visible wear, the items are silver-plated. No official hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible on the exterior surfaces shown in the photograph.
Condition report:
Both items show signs of age and domestic use, including surface scratches and moderate to heavy tarnishing, most notably on the smaller lid. Orange and white inventory stickers are present on the lids.
