Lot 635: Norwegian Silver-Gilt and Guilloché Enamel Link Bracelet by Aksel Holmsen
A vintage Norwegian silver-gilt and guilloché enamel link bracelet by the maker Aksel Holmsen, originating from the mid-20th century. The bracelet is constructed from sterling silver with a gold-gilt wash (vermeil) and is composed of seven primary links joined by small rectangular jump rings. Each link is formed in a stylised ‘S’ or wave shape, featuring bicolour enamel decoration. One half of each link is finished with royal blue guilloché enamel, showing a translucent layer over an engine-turned pattern, while the opposing half is decorated with opaque cream-coloured enamel. The bracelet is secured with a silver-gilt spring ring clasp. The reverse of one link is stamped with the following marks: 925 S, the maker’s mark consisting of two stylised interlocking scroll shapes for Aksel Holmsen, and NORWAY STERLING.
Condition report:
The bracelet is in good vintage condition. The enamel surfaces appear to be well-preserved with no significant chips, cracks, or losses visible in the photographs. There is some minor surface wear and light tarnishing to the gold-gilt finish on the reverse of the links, which is consistent with age and regular use. The spring ring clasp is in functional condition.
