Lot 507: A Trio of Large Gilt Framed Rectangular Wall Mirrors
This lot comprises three large rectangular wall mirrors, each featuring a gilt-finished frame in varying classical styles. One mirror is designed with a relatively understated frame showing a simple moulded profile and a fine beaded inner border. The other two mirrors feature heavily moulded, ornate frames in the Victorian revival style, decorated with intricate patterns of scrolling acanthus leaves, floral motifs, and deep foliate scroll-work. These frames display a patinated gilt finish with darker tones in the recesses to highlight the relief details. The mirror plates are clear and typical of late 20th-century manufacture. No maker marks or attributions are visible.
Condition report:
The mirror plates appear to be in good overall condition, showing clear reflections with no significant signs of foxing, clouding, or silvering loss. The frames exhibit minor surface wear, small scuffs, and light abrasions consistent with age and domestic use. Contemporary adhesive labels are present on the glass.
