A pair of matching cast iron bench ends for a garden or park bench. The frames are of cast construction, featuring decorative sweeping curves that form integral armrests and cabriole-style legs. Each end piece is designed with a series of pre-drilled holes along the interior edge for the attachment of timber slats. The metal surfaces exhibit a dark, weathered patina with widespread surface oxidation. No manufacturer marks or foundry stamps are present on either piece. One frame carries a small contemporary paper label with the handwritten characters B B and a small orange sticker, used for inventory identification.
Condition report:
The items are in a weathered, as-found condition. There is significant surface rust and oxidation across all areas, which is typical for antique exterior ironwork. The frames appear structurally sound with no visible cracks or repairs. Restoration, involving cleaning, repainting, and the fitting of new wooden slats, is required.
