Lot 358: Mid-20th Century Hardwood Telephone Seat with Integral Table and Drawer
This is a mid-20th century telephone seat, also known as a gossip chair, featuring a traditional revival design. The piece is constructed from a dark mahogany-stained hardwood frame. The seating area consists of a single seat and a high, wrap-around backrest upholstered in a dusky pink fabric with deep button tufting. The upholstery edges are finished with a cream-coloured braided gimp trim. The frame includes a single armrest and cresting rail decorated with scrollwork carving. Adjacent to the seat is an integral side table with a flat rectangular top and a single drawer fitted with a circular metal pull handle. The piece is supported by four cabriole-style legs. The construction utilizes traditional joinery methods. No maker marks or labels are visible on the piece.

The item is in good vintage condition. The wooden frame and legs exhibit minor surface wear, small scuffs, and abrasions consistent with age and domestic use.
