A wooden torchere or pedestal stand in a 17th-century revival style, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The piece is constructed from a light-toned hardwood, possibly beech or oak, and features a circular top with a double-moulded edge. The central support is a heavily carved barley-twist column, which is divided into sections by two turned, bulbous collars. The column is mounted onto a substantial, tiered circular pedestal base with conforming moulded detailing. There are no visible maker’s marks or manufacturer stamps on the piece. A small white rectangular label is affixed to one of the central collars and a yellow circular sticker is present on the top surface.
Condition report:
The item is in good overall condition, exhibiting light surface wear such as minor scuffs and scratches consistent with its age and use. There are adhesive labels present on the top surface and the central column.
