Lot 326: An Assortment of Antique Cast Iron Sad Irons and a Vintage Blowlamp
A collection of antique cast iron domestic and industrial pressing tools along with a vintage blowlamp. The assortment includes various sad irons and flat irons of differing sizes and designs. Most feature traditional solid cast bases, with handles including integrated metal types and turned wooden versions, one of which retains a red-painted finish. One specific iron displays cast relief text on the top surface reading PATENT 446820 adjacent to a decorative cross emblem. The group also contains an iron with a blue-enamelled body and a large rectangular heavy-duty iron. Accompanying the irons is a vintage brass and steel blowlamp equipped with a control valve and nozzle. Several pieces are marked with small white adhesive labels bearing the number 4.
Condition report:
All items exhibit signs of age-related wear and use. Visible surface oxidation, pitting, and patina are present throughout the metal components. The wooden handles show wear, with significant paint loss noted on the red-painted example. The blue-enamelled iron shows some surface loss and chipping to the finish. The blowlamp displays expected tarnish and surface oxidation.
