Lot 313: Large Panoramic School Photograph of Ulverston Grammar School, 1955
A large-format panoramic black and white group photograph featuring the staff and students of Ulverston Grammar School, Cumbria. The image captures several hundred individuals arranged in rows against the backdrop of the brick school building. Centred in the lower margin is the printed title ULVERSTON GRAMMAR SCHOOL alongside the date Sept 1955. Between these is the school crest, which comprises a shield with four quadrants (castle, lighthouse, quill/sceptre, and sailing ship) above the initials U.G.S. and a banner with the motto PER LABOREM AD HONOREM. To the lower right is the producer mark for Panora Ltd, 56 Eagle Street, London, W.C.1, a company renowned for specialising in wide-angle panoramic group photography. The photograph is presented in a dark wood frame with a decorative stepped inner border.

The photograph shows age-related toning and minor foxing, particularly visible in the lower margin. The item has not been examined out of the frame. The frame displays minor surface scuffs and wear consistent with its age. There are reflections on the glass in the catalogue images.
