Lot 303: Dick Pearce, A Pair of Maritime Oil Paintings on Board
A pair of oil paintings on board by Dick Pearce depicting dramatic maritime scenes. The first composition features a square-rigged sailing vessel navigating heavy dark-grey seas beneath a tumultuous sky. The companion work shows a smaller gaff-rigged coastal vessel in choppy waters with a distant shoreline and buildings visible on the horizon. Both paintings are executed in a traditional representational style with dynamic brushwork and impasto highlights used to define the crests of the waves. Each work is signed Dick Pearce in red in the lower-right corner. The paintings are presented in matching ornate gilt-finished frames with a scrolling foliate inner border.
Condition report:
Both paintings appear to be in good overall condition with minor surface dust. The gilt-finished frames show light wear and minor scuffing consistent with age.
