Lot 301: F.J. Brouwer (1905), Dutch Riverside Landscape with Windmill, Oil on Canvas
This oil on canvas painting depicts a traditional Dutch riverside landscape, featuring a large windmill beside rustic thatched buildings and figures. A small boat is moored at the water’s edge, and the scene is rendered in a muted palette of earthy ochres, greys, and blues. The brushwork creates an atmospheric rendering of the sky and the reflections in the waterway. The artwork is signed and dated F.J. BROUWER 1905 in the upper right corner. It is presented in an ornate, deep gilded frame with a beaded inner slip and decorative foliate corner mouldings. Condition report:
