A commemorative colour lithograph on paper depicting Queen Victoria, titled ‘THE SOVEREIGN OF SIXTY YEARS’ to the lower right. This portrait was issued to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897 and shows her in profile wearing black mourning dress, a white lace widow’s cap with a long veil, a blue sash, and jewellery including a miniature portrait brooch. She is depicted holding a closed fan. The print is inscribed with a printed facsimile signature ‘Victoria R.I.’ to the upper right. The work is presented in a dark wood frame with a gilded inner slip.
Condition report:
The paper support exhibits significant cockling and undulation throughout the sheet. There are minor surface marks and light discolouration consistent with age. The frame shows typical wear, including minor scuffs and surface scratches. Auction lot stickers are present on the glass and frame. Not examined out of frame.
