Lot 247A: A Collection of BBC Blue Peter Ephemera and Autographs, circa 1979
A collection of paper ephemera related to the BBC television programme Blue Peter, dating to the late 1970s. The lot includes a handwritten letter on headed stationery from The Bield, Little Langdale, Ambleside, Cumbria, dated 1 May 1979. Addressed to Mrs Whitford, the letter expresses gratitude for a bedspread and cushions made for Harriet, the Blue Peter donkey. There are two translucent paper slips bearing blue ink signatures; one is signed Peter Purves and the other is signed Love Lesley, attributed to presenter Lesley Judd. Also included is a handwritten note fragment from an Ashford address mentioning Pete, and a sheet of official BBC television stationery from Television Centre, London. Postal details on the items indicate the recipient was Ann Whitford of Millom, Cumbria.
Condition report:
The items are in a condition consistent with age and domestic handling. The translucent autograph slips show heavy yellowing and some creasing. The letters and official stationery have original mailing folds and show light foxing and toning.
