A fine bone china paperweight in the form of a penguin, produced by Royal Crown Derby. The piece is decorated in the traditional Imari style, featuring deep cobalt blue on the head and back, accented with hand-applied 22 carat gold gilding. The underside of the body is embellished with a repeating pattern of iron-red teardrop motifs on a white ground. The base is fitted with a gold-coloured ceramic stopper embossed with the factory mark, indicating first-quality production. The base features a red printed Royal Crown Derby backstamp with the date code XLIX, signifying the piece was manufactured in 1986. A small hand-painted green decorator mark is also visible on the base.
Condition report:
The figurine is in very good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or crazing. The gold gilding remains bright and intact with no signs of rubbing or wear. A small orange adhesive tag is currently attached to the lower side of the piece.
