Lot 201: Royal Crown Derby Imari Puffin Porcelain Paperweight
A Royal Crown Derby porcelain paperweight figurine in the form of a Puffin. The bird is depicted in a seated position and decorated in the traditional Imari palette of cobalt blue, iron red, and black, enriched with intricate hand-painted gold scrolls and feather detailing against a white ground. The underside of the base features a circular red backstamp for Royal Crown Derby English Bone China with the Roman numerals LIX, indicating a manufacture date of 1996. The piece retains its original gold-coloured button stopper embossed with the factory mark, signifying it is of first quality. Small hand-painted decorator marks in green and red are present within the footwell.
Condition report:
The figurine is in excellent condition, showing no evidence of chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. The gilded highlights and painted patterns remain vibrant and intact. The gold stopper is original and remains securely fitted.
