A wall-mounted decorative cast iron head of a longhorn bull or steer. The piece is cast with prominent outward-curving horns and features a large, movable circular ring suspended from the nostrils, likely intended for use as a towel rack or door knocker. The head is integral to a decorative backplate with stylised foliate or leaf-form edges. The surface displays a dark brown or black patinated finish with a characteristic granular sand-cast texture. There are no visible manufacturer’s marks. Two contemporary inventory stickers are present on the backplate: an orange sticker with the handwritten digits 162 and a small white sticker with the digit 7.
Condition report:
The item is in sound overall condition with an aged finish. There are small deposits of white residue, possibly paint or plaster, visible on the tips and base of the horns. The casting remains intact with no visible cracks or structural losses.
