Lot 149: Early 20th Century Art Nouveau Cloth-Bound Postcard Album Containing Topographical and Art Cards
A collection of vintage postcards housed in a period cloth-bound album dating to the early 20th century. The album is bound in brown cloth-covered boards featuring an inset colour-printed illustration of a cottage in a landscape, surrounded by stylized Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) decorative line work and circular motifs. The title POST-CARD ALBUM. is printed on the front cover in a period serif typeface. The interior contains muted green cardstock pages, each printed with ornate Art Nouveau corner borders and pre-cut slots for card insertion. The assortment includes various topographical and art postcards from the Golden Age of postcards (circa 1900-1915). Content includes monochrome views of European architecture and colour-printed art cards depicting coastal scenes, landscapes, and figures in woodland settings. One visible topographical card is captioned: Bruges (Belgique) La Justice de Paix, Palais de Ville et la Basilique du St. Sang.

The album cover shows signs of age-related wear, including scuffing, surface soiling, and visible loss of cloth at the corners, most notably at the top right. Internally, the cardstock pages exhibit typical age-toning and occasional small tears at the postcard insertion slots.
