This lot comprises an assortment of vintage theatrical souvenir programmes and related ephemera, primarily housed within a cardboard box. The primary featured item is a souvenir programme for White Horse Inn, a musical play in three acts. The programme was presented by Prince Littler by arrangement with Sir Oswald Stoll and features Erik Charell’s production. The work is freely adapted from the play by Blumenthal and Kadelburg by Hans Müller, with music by Ralph Benatzky and Robert Stolz. Original lyrics are by Robert Gilbert, with the English book and lyrics by Harry Graham. The programme features large-format stapled paper wrappers with a blue and white pictorial cover illustration of a mountain landscape and an inn. The items are stored in a cardboard box marked with a handwritten lot number 147 on an orange adhesive tag.
Condition report:
The lead programme is in fair to good condition, exhibiting notable surface staining and foxing, particularly along the top edge and spine. There is significant rubbing, minor chipping, and general wear to all edges and corners. Creasing is evident along the spine edge. The contents show signs of age-toning and handling throughout. Other items in the collection appear to have similar handling wear consistent with age and long-term storage.
