Lot 121: A Collection of Vintage Brass and Copper Decorative Metalware and Household Objects
This lot consists of an assortment of vintage decorative metalware and household items primarily made of brass and copper. The collection includes a large circular brass charger with a wide repousse border featuring repeating scroll and circular patterns and a central embossed figure. Among the other significant pieces are a dark-patinated kettle with a wicker-bound handle, an ornate cast brass vase decorated with floral scrollwork, and a copper-coloured vessel with a pink enamelled interior. The lot also contains a rectangular dark-stained wooden block base with four raised feet, possibly a stand for a lamp or ornament. Various smaller brass dishes, fittings, and miscellaneous decorative ornaments are included within the blue plastic crate. No maker’s marks are visible on the surfaces of the items.
Condition report:
The items in this lot exhibit signs of age and previous use. Most metal surfaces show varying degrees of tarnish, surface dust, and verdigris. The dark-patinated kettle has significant surface wear and oxidation. The pink enamelled interior of the copper vessel shows minor surface wear and small losses. The wooden base has some scuffing and loss of finish, particularly to the feet.
